BIC BLOG 8/8/20
The big news this week is that the long awaited pre-order info for the ReMISSION INTERNATIONAL’s ‘Tower Of Strength’ 2020 will happen this Monday August 10th! If me intel is correct, a bit of this amazing track will be made public. For those who do not know what this is, Wayne pulled together a lot of his friends to do a new version of THE MISSION’s classic, which has become sort of the unofficial anthem for the Health Care and Front Line workers in the UK in the fight against Covid-19. ALL money from the sale of this song (and some alt mixes) will go to the charities nominated by the artists involved. I was blessed to be invited to add some guitar and textures alongside the amazing artists that are part of this project. I sincerely hope everyone purchases this track in whatever, or all formats you listen to music on, as this was truly done for all the right reasons for the true heroes in this fight against the virus.
Speaking of Wayne, it is a bit mind-boggling that it was a year ago this week that Mr. Hussey flew to Los Angeles and we spent several days drinking wine and playing a bit of guitar. Oh .. and we managed to film not one, not two, but three videos! After Tish, Wayne and I had some laughs shopping for ‘glam clothes’, which I bought my ‘Hussey- approved’ hat, we filmed our Top-Of-The-Pops inspired ‘20th Century Boy’ video. This was a bit of bucket list for both Wayne and I, as we got to do this along side Rolan Bolan. Marc Bolan and T. Rex were massive influences on both of us, so getting to do this with Marc’s son was pretty spectacular. Having Rolan tell us that he thought his Dad would think this was really cool is still etched in my brain!
The next day we returned to Tiger Lab Studio and transformed the set to the stark monochromatic look for the gorgeous ‘ The Long Goodbye’ (Au Revoir). This was one of the most adventurous videos we have done, and is still one of my favorites. With basically no budget, I think we pulled off the mannequin-transformation scene pretty well! I loved having Tish and our youngest daughter, Sophia as part of it. I really love this version of the song so much and I still feel it would be great in a movie! The next day we piled into a car and drove to El Matador Beach to film the pickup shots of Wayne walking on the beach. We had to walk down 100 starts to get to the ocean, dressed in all black with me carrying the mini piano! The spot we picked is popular with couples shooting wedding photos so we got some weird looks and were asked if we were going to do a concert! The things we do for art! After filming, Wayne dodged waves for an hour or so, and then he suggested we go back to the studio and get some shots of him singing ‘The Delicate Balance Of All Things’. The song was not yet mixed, but the footage allowed us to add to it later and cobble together a pretty cool video for the first single from ‘The Storm Before The Calm’.
In other BIC news this week, our new ‘Stranger’ video and track continues to get views and plays. Also, the ‘English’ version of an interview I did with REVISTA THE 13th was released. You can read it HERE (pg 34) Several more remixes for our next album ‘Out of Chaos Comes …’ have shown up in my inbox. I’m really getting excited about this release and doing a few videos for these new mixes. As with ‘Beauty ReEnvisioned’, it is a great feeling to hand over the controls to other artists and hear their interpretation of the songs. Our plan is to release this album on Halloween 2020. Quite Spooky and Goth, isn’t it? :)
