BIC BLOG 4/4/20
Another week in this ‘brave new world’ we seem to be facing as a species. I count my Blessings daily that our daughters are home with us instead of locked in their dorms on the other side of the country. Maybe when this is past us … and yes, it will pass, we will reserve the word HERO as it was originally intended: a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. Not for actors, celebrities,, sports figures, or even musicians. I think we see in this time of crisis who the real heroes are. Someone who runs towards danger, not away. Someone who puts the needs and safety of others before their own.
So on to BIC. We received the mastered tracks back from Dale Becker of Becker Mastering. Again, a masterful job! He also added the polished sonic sheen to both ‘finding beauty in chaos’ and ‘beauty re-envisioned’. We have finalized the album art and everything is being sent to the pressing facility. As feared, they are not able to commit to a completion date due to the possibility of some shutdowns with the printers that they use for the cover and the sleeves. Disappointing, but we can only control what we can control. Michael Rozon and I are working on the (mostly) instrumental that will close out the CD and Digital versions of ‘the storm before the storm’. We should have the physical CDs in hand on or before our MAY 22,2020 release date. As I mentioned last week, it just so happened that 5/22 is ‘World Goth Day’. Our amazing publicist, Shauna from Shameless Promotion PR thought I was being clever .. but for the sake of full disclosure …however clever, it was indeed coincidental :) Pre-Order info will be coming soon, and as on our prior releases, both VINYL and CD purchases will include an immediate digital download of the record.
Besides my daily ‘FBIC’ Spotlights, where I give a bit of back story/insight to the songs on our debut release, I’m using the unfamiliar downtime to continue to ‘recruit’ remixers to join the fun on our next ‘re-envisioned’ style project. So far, these three amazing talents are going to return … Tim Palmer, John Fryer and Kitty Lectro. Speaking of Ms. Lectro … I just got my cool Kitty Tee I ordered. Get yours HERE!
